- FIM Audiophile Reference Series
Our over ten-year old albums in this series: Audiophile Reference I, II, III IV and more recently, Super Sounds I, II and III, have been used, world-wide as reference demo discs by individual audiophiles, audio manufacturers, designers and at various shows. Many may have owned several or all of them. We, at FIM, do not feel complacent of this, but endeavor to keep pace with the fast advancing technologies in the recording, mastering, disc material and replication. To us, every element in the chain is equally important to ensure best possible sound. The Super Sounds series has already been consistently rated as truly outstanding in sound quality. Some reviewers intimated that there were very few peers indeed. With the latest DXD mastering format, we think we have pushed the limit even further. We have used over three months in fine-tuning the sound of this series to yet another unprecedented level of magnificence. To enhance the repertoire further, we have replaced a few tracks and add more wonderful tracks in each album for added value both in musicality and sonority.
(i) In Super Sounds! I FIM DXD 066, we add one beautiful track, Over the Rainbow . By Steve Siu, piano from his second album (To be released in autumn).
(ii) In Super Sounds! II, we have 6 new terrific tracks: Feelings/Salena Jones; Moonglow/Ray Brown; Ducks’ Quarrel, breath-taking percussion; Variation on Yang City Tune/Guqin solo; Track from Misa Criolla and one bonus track: Waltzing Clouds/Guzheng solo.
(iii) In Super Sounds! III, we have five new wonderful tracks too: Star Dust/Yamamoto Trio; Bamboo/Neptune; A Lion that has just woken/stunning orchestration; Lost World Theme/huge soundscaping; and the newly arranged beautiful Red River Valley.
I can almost guarantee no disappointment in any respect. They are now available in beautiful limited edition packing! Order now before this deluxe packing is gone.
Other New Alums
(iv) Ella & Louis LIM DXD 045: This legendary recording is so world-famous that it needs no introduction. However, I have disclosed our secret of how to make this mono recording to come alive in such full sound. Ella’s voice is prettier than ever. Please read my preface for this album! Available now.
(v) Super Trio LIM DXD 047: I have never dreamt of producing this nice jazz album at all if not for the enthusiastic recommendation of a very good friend of mine who brought a copy of this recording from last year’s Rocky Mountain Audio Fair. He emphatically said that the “gun-shot” drum solo track had burnt quite a few systems in the show. He could not imagine the enhanced and increased dynamics and energy of this recording would be if it were re-mastered by FIM. I gladly accepted the challenge not because of his compliment, but, as an audiophile, I really love to see how it goes. You owe yourself a favor if you do not read my preface on how we have chirmed up a “killer disc”. Available now.
(vi) Messiah LIM K2 HD 029: Handel’s Messiah is generally considered as a must in one’s classical library. There are perhaps over 100 different recordings of this repertoire. I chose this one for sheer sonority and performance. It was released on two occasions by FIM in the past, one in XRCD format and the other in SACD. Now, it is in the new K2 HD version. Needlessly to say, it is much better. Otherwise it is not worthwhile for me to release it again; in particular, you might already have a version from FIM. It is a 2-disc set, sold at 1 ½ price only. Available now
(vii) The TBM Sounds! LIM DXD 048: Nearly every audiophile knows that TBM has unique sound: very full, musical, luscious, immediate, and dynamic with stunning presence. FIM has produced, under license seven albums in the past, two by Golden String and five by FIM. They are all very popular.
Now, with the new technology of DXD, I have painstakingly crystallized the cream of these seven albums into one single and final album to truly represent the sounds of TBM. That means that every track must be a jaw-dropping piece! Available in the 3rd week of August
(viii) What’s New/Linda Ronstadt LIM PA 046: This is the first licensed album from Warner Brothers. What’s New has been regarded the best sounding album of this super star singer. It is also the first album created by the latest mastering technology: Pure Analog – 32-bit 192 Capture! Yes. It will be the first highest resolution album with pure analog sound. Read my preface for more information.
All mastering has been done. However, there are still some licensing legality and formalities yet to be finalized. Once cleared, we can release it in two weeks. If so, I believe it will be one of the biggest hits from the FIM catalog. Linda’s voice never sounds so sweet!
A number of great albums are in the planning stage. We shall keep you abreast of our progress in due course. |
