This year, Orpheus showcases its SP 3.0 speakers; it was just completed 10 days ago before the Munich show. The complete Orpheus system attracts many audiophile attention, and we were very lucky to be the first bunch to audition; needless to say, Orpheus sounds great with complete Orpheus digital system.
We were told that Orpheus products are all designed and manufactured in Switzerland to the highest quality standards. Each product line undergoes extensive testing before its launch. Of course, each unit in itself is also tested before being sold in addition to undergoing a burn-in period. Therefore, the speakers are not yet for sale to end users. And I have no idea how much they are; of course, the price is probably in the ‘if you have to ask, you can’t afford it’ region.
Other systems I'm also very impressed, in no particular orders, are:
The French Devialet D-Premier is something very special. Its slim jewllery alike look makes it a instant collectible, yet its technology marks its name in the audio history. It is a combination of Class A and Class D design with DAC and preamp all in one (should be called a receiver). Yet, it sounds really good, even driving the demanding Magico speakers. One can never imagine they are played by this Playstation size amplifier.
The Soulution / Magico combo is almost a guarantee of good sound. Although I personally favor the looks of Magico M5 speakers, but the new Q5 speakers officially marks the new reference speakers from Magico.
The Burmester room is showcasing many new products this year, including its music server. The room is booked with lots of audience in private sessions. Yet no one seems wanting to leave the room after the lust and smooth musical treat.
The Ensemble demo-ed its newest Fonobrio phono stage with analog setup. We all fell in love with its elegant and exquisite musicality of Ensemble. Urs also showcased the newest rack from Ensemble, Switzerland at very reasonable price.
I'm not very familiar with this Acoustic System (ASL) amplifier, but this room sounds great with Kharma speakers and full dCS setup.
The mbl flagship system is the standard of high fidelity in music. Although the company is now Italian owned, but products still represent the highest quality in music playback. This year, many company are showing products in high gloss white finish. Although I'm not a big fan of this finish, but it is available for customers who like them. |
