It's been more than a decade since the Canadian dollar was this low. Many customers are wondering how the low dollar is affecting his/her purchase.
Indeed, the low Canadian dollar is affecting most of our US import. At Element Acoustics, we work with many US manufacturer and import them directly. Hence, you'll notice we do show both Canadian dollars and US dollars. Our MSRP on the US import is the same as in the US. We then use the real exchange rate to convert into Canadian dollars (@ 0.71 on January 8, 2016); keeping the price accurate and non-inflated. Therefore, our customers are not paying more than US or rest of the world.
And we have many European and Japanese import. Like the Canadian dollars, the Euro and Japanese Yen are also affected by the strong US dollars. Hence, there is minimum, if not, none increase on the price; keeping the price the same for Canadians.
With the low Canadian dollars today, many of our customers actually found that our price is cheaper than US or other parts of the world. In fact, we often get many inquiries from other countries.
Although it sucks to see the dipping loonie, but at Element Acoustics, we will keep on staying competitive for our customers.
