The 5” drivers used in the Silver Supreme Edition version of the T-series loudspeakers feature baskets made of Titanium, which has a remarkable high structural rigidity and damping properties.

Our research led us to make use computer-optimized finite element designs (FEM) which allowed us to 3D-optimize the shape of our baskets, so that they don’t obstruct the airflow caused by the membrane’s rear strokes and remain acoustically invisible.

The patented Børresen iron-free magnetic system has been further refined. Børresen uses iron-free drivers in all its loudspeakers.

Their inductance is about ten times lower than that of conventional drivers. This exceptionally low inductance is even further reduced to an unprecedented minimum level – about 12 times lower than the inductance level of conventional, iron-based drivers.

Here is how we achieved this: Since silver has 6-8% better conductivity than copper, we replaced the copper pole rings with in-house manufactured, handcrafted silver rings.

Børresen has replaced the conventional iron-core design with four neodymium (N52) rings in a patented mirrored alignment, improving voice coil responsiveness. This speaker features copper pole rings that resist flux changes, enhancing clarity. Since the two magnet pairs in the T-series motor system repel each other with great force that prevents their contact, two non-magnetic copper rings (one external and one internal) are placed between them. The benefits of these in-house cast parts are firstly that they maintain the motor’s cylindrical shape and uniform gap width without any additional profiling components. Secondly, copper is highly efficient in heat dissipation and lastly, it resists the change in the magnetic flux

The membrane consists of three layers, laminated into a single unit: an aramid honeycomb core between two spread tow carbon fiber skins. The combination of these materials results in a moving surface with exceptional properties. Carbon fiber layers provide optimum stiffness in many different directions. The aramid honeycomb core has an excellent stiffness-to-weight ratio in the vertical direction, while graphene and boron whiskers mixed into the epoxy resin that binds the layers together increase the stiffness of crosslinks between carbon fibers. This in turn makes these bonds stronger, so the entire membrane becomes stronger and less noisy, but remains very light.
