Aesthetix Io is an all-tube phono stage suitable for the most demanding cartridges, including low-output moving coils. At 2011 Munich high end show, Aesthetix is displaying its flagship - IO Eclipse phono stage.
I talked to Jim about this Eclipse upgrade of its already high performance IO and Callisto. I was told that the bulk of the internal changes of Eclipse revolve around the new Stealthcap(TM) from Peter Moncrief. StealthCap uses radical new Stealth Technology(TM) (patents pending), with exotic new conductors and dielectrics, to dramatically reduce reflections, just as stealth aircraft do. Internal changes to the Io start with .22uF / 600v Stealth coupling capacitors. These are made of exotic copper foil. These are used between the second and third gain stages, and the third gain stage and output stage. These capacitors bring Io to new levels of performance.
So what does all these fancy capacitor really do? First, you will notice the incredible black quiet background. Pitch black, dark, whatever you call it; it is dark, dark, dark. It also offers amazing transparency with a wealth of sdoubtle musical information and revealing rich spatial imaging. It brings out every tiny details in the music, and offer the purest and organic foam of analog sound.
