2011 Munich HES - Evening Gala
In celebration of the 30th anniversary of Munich High End Show, and its success; a large evening gala with more than 1400 industry affiliates gathered after the first day of the show. Dinner served in delicious Bavarian food and German beer. It was a great and enjoyable evening with good food, good bear, and great live blue music. |

Kharma is focusing on its new ELEGANCE series, but my eyes are still on the new Kharma mono block amplifiers. Unfortunately, I didn't pick up any brochures about these amplifiers; they may still be in the prototype stage. However, it shows that Kharma is not only strong in speaker design, but also cables and electronics. |

Don't be fooled by its output power, it is capable of driving the most demanding speakers while exposing micro details / dynamics without compromising the coherence of the recording. The combination of these Vitus audio amplifiers with Focal Grande Utopia EM is one of the best sounding systems at the 2011 Munich High End Show. |

Aries Cerat (Cyprus) is a very new company. It was founded in 2010, but their products have far exceed the standard of any new companies. I've auditioned the Aries Cerat Exsequor Reference tube amplifier paring with Tuneaudio horn speakers, and the sound is extreme clean, transparent and dynamic.

I was told by Jim that the bulk of the internal changes of Eclipse revolve around the new Stealthcap(TM) from Peter Moncrief. StealthCap uses radical new Stealth Technology(TM) (patents pending), with exotic new conductors and dielectrics, to dramatically reduce reflections, just as stealth aircraft do. |

Elsewhere though, the chrome shininess of German turntablism shone through, in brands like Transrotor, Acoustic Solid and Clearaudio. Transrotor may be new to many audiophiles in North America, but it has been around for quite some time in Germany. It has currently more than 20 turntables in its product line, and they all look pretty. If I remember correctly, this is a $140,000+ Euro turntable from Transrotor. |

The Kiso Acoustic presenting a pair of little speakers called: HB-1. Just when I thought they are another pair of small monitor with nothing interesting about; to my big surprise, it sounds great ! It is capable of reproducing remarkably big and full-bodied musical performances belying its diminutive size.
