The unit ships with a third-generation iPad loaded with Burmester’s proprietary control app, giving users an intuitive touchscreen remote with which to browse their music collections. With the Clearaudio Master Innovation (+49.1805.05.95.95, www.clearaudio.de), the German audio manufacturer puts a new spin on turntable technology. The turntable’s two-platter magnetic drive system consists of a lower platter, powered by a belt-driven DC motor, that magnetically spins the massive 2.75-inch upper platter without any physical contact, thus eliminating any vibrations that would affect vinyl playback. The Master Innovation is available as a stand-alone piece (with Clearaudio’s TT2 tonearm) for $34,500, or as a $57,000 package that includes the company’s flagship Goldfinger Statement cartridge and the Everest stand made specifically for this system. |
