Vancouver Audio Show 2015 coverage by Audiophilia.com

This is the first official show coverage of the Vancouver Audio Show 2015.

We are extremely honored that two of our 3 rooms were honorably mentioned by AUDIOPHILIA.com as the finest sound at the Vancouver Audio Show 2015.  It is indeed difficult to setup a system in an unknown environment 24 hours prior to the show.  We are very happy that many people who attended the show like our rooms; thank you all.

"Having only one day at the show, I wouldn’t presume to publish our ‘Audiophilia Best’. Most rooms take at least a day to get going. That said, we did hear some very fine sounds. Some, we have already mentioned. But, four rooms did get our attention pretty fast. They were expertly set up, played quality repertoire that showed off their designs and didn’t overload the rooms or our ears.

A speaker new to me, Franco Serblin’s Accordo Loudspeaker (CAD $16,000 /pr) sounded very refined and musical via a pile of Accuphase electronics. They had the cut and jib of Sonos Faber, but the sound was different. The Accordo had a lovely clarity and boxed in the bass just how I like it. No bloat, just Hz. I’m not sure how many stores carry these beauties, but if you’re inclined, you should seek them out.

I’ve always admired Accuphase, even when I couldn’t afford their products. I still can’t! A man can dream. Here, we had the E-600 Integrated Amplifier (CAD $12,999) and AD-30 Phono Stage for a very reasonable 2K. Playing the music was a lovely VPI Prime (CAD $4,900 with 3D printed arm) and the fabulous Lyra Etna cartridge (CAD $8,600).

One of my favourite Audiophilia review assignments from years past was the huge Acapella Campanile Loudspeaker, replete with Acapella’s Plasma Tweeter. Smaller, but retaining all the musical guile and power of the mighty Campanile, is the Violon Mk. 6 (CAD $56,000 /pr). This room featured a real mixed bag of components, but the synergy worked. Insane highs, a clear but not too rich midrange and very low bass combined to make beautiful music. Helping portray the loveliness was a Brinkmann Bardo Turntable (CAD $8,250), Aesthetix Rhea Signature Phono Stage (CAD $9,250) and an Air Tight ATM-1S Power Amplifier (CAD $9,250)."
